North Star could be another option from Hoosier Pass, but the ridge gets fairly narrow during the summit push.

We parked at I 70 because we just have 2wd, but other people made it further. I don't think it would be too difficult getting to the grizzly gulch th if you have 4wd, and a few other vehicles made it further than that.

"unclegar"  Just got back from climbing Mt. Lady Washington. We used the winter trail and climbed the east slope and we did not use snowshoes. We carried them but didn't use them. You could go either way in places but I'd say they're not required. We did use microspikes.

Try skinning up Butler Gulch near the Henderson Mine off highway 40 outside of Empire. That's a nice mellow grade that cruises up through the trees to a beautiful alpine meadow. There's some opportunity for turns on the way back down as well. No major avy risk to speak of until you get up above tree line.

"Jon Frohlich"  That notch is actually quite a bit simpler than it looks. If you are comfortable on Class 2+ or easy 3 terrain then you won't have any issues. It only involves a few moves.

I agree. Last fall I wandered down to the notch area. When I was there it was covered in snow which made the descent from the summit a little sketchy, but in dry weather (or at least snow free) I doubt you would have to think twice about it. Especially ascending.
