Mountain Ranges
It's difficult to understand the size of Colorado until you spend time traveling
through the various sections of the Rocky Mountains. The state holds
thousands of peaks over 11,000 feet. Most of these peaks are found in the
major mountain ranges. But Colorado has
many other ranges - large and small. The Gore Range, Mummy Range, Flat
Tops, and others contain peaks over 12,000 feet in height - but no 14ers.
14ers can only be found in the following ranges:
| Range (click for a peak list) | Number of 13ers | Number of 14ers |
| Front | 76 | 6 |
| Tenmile | 11 | 1 |
| Mosquito | 26 | 4 |
| Gore | 32 | - |
| The Flat Tops | - | - |
| Sawatch | 141 | 15 |
| Sangre de Cristo | 84 | 10 |
| San Juan Mountains | 315 | 12 |
| Elk Mountains | 52 | 5 |
|
Totals: |
737 | 53 (plus 5 "unofficial" 14ers) |
