Re: New Ford Bronco
Okay, it's a WildTrak. Similar grill and also comes with the Sasquatch package (same suspension, wheels, and tires as the First Edition). The WildTrak graphic on the side is a dead giveaway.highpilgrim wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 4:06 pm Susan:

It's about $10K less because the First Edition comes standard with all the luxury interior stuff. And I guess you can get the step with the WildTrak.
Retractable twill Bestop roof. That's extra.

That would work for me. Looks like it’ll get remote just fine.susanjoypaul wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 4:22 pm It's about $10K less because the First Edition comes standard with all the luxury interior stuff.

Re: New Ford Bronco
If you want to go even cheaper, you can get a Sasquatched, bare bones Base model for less than $40K (all the off-road capability but no 12" screen, leather, or B&O sound system, limited color choices, and the lettering on the grill is black) and I know at least one dealership offering $2K below invoice (not MSRP, invoice). If you do reserve and order one, whomever you go with, make sure you get all the details of your order and the price in writing. People who don't are getting sticker shocked with big mark-ups much higher than the quote on the build and price page.highpilgrim wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 4:30 pmThat would work for me. And expect to wait a while.

IMO still too much $$$ for a truck that gets 17mpg... but i will give ford 2 big kudos for the manual transmission AND offering the off road package across all trim levels!susanjoypaul wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 4:22 pmOkay, it's a WildTrak. Re: New Ford Bronco
Yeah, the mileage sucks, but I don't know anyone who buys an off-roader for the mileage.curt86iroc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 4:57 pm IMO still too much $$$ for a truck that gets 17mpg... but i will give ford 2 big kudos for the manual transmission AND offering the off road package across all trim levels!
After yesterday's news, don't expect to see many more of these on the road for a while. Due to a design flaw in the MIC roofs (molded in color hard top removeable, which is the only factory option on the 2-door and the WildTrak) everyone out there with a hard top is getting a replacement, and thousands of built-but-not-shipped rigs are sitting in a dirt lot in Wayne, Michigan, waiting for replacement roofs that haven't even been built yet. I don't even know if the design's been finalized. Ford has been horrible in the communication department.
So, many people with a 4-door who don't have a VIN and build date are switching to a soft top, and my 2-door will more than likely get pushed to MY22. Ford all but came out and said, "If you have a 2-door on order and it hasn't been built yet, don't plan on getting it this year."
Not happy about it, but it's better than driving around with a leaky roof, I guess.

Re: New Ford Bronco
I finally saw a real Bronco today, it was metallic gray, I *think* it had the darker lettering in the grille which seems like it might have been the base model. Coincidentally a Bronco Sport was driving by so you could see the visual/size difference.
Re: New Ford Bronco
So how did it work out for everyone who bought/ordered one? It seems that a lot of people who ordered one avl9ng time ago still haven't got one and a lot of people who did had problems with theirs, though maybe some of the bugs have been worked out by now?
Just curious.

Re: New Ford Bronco
I picked mine up in July and drove it 800 miles home. No problems at all, and I'm getting 21.9 mpg running it full time in Normal GOAT mode and Advanced 4x4 (4A) - better than when I was running in Eco and 2H (21.7) and Normal 2H (21.8 ). I haven't tracked mpg in Sport, Slippery, or Sand modes yet, and I only put it in 4H and 4L for short periods of time (when I need it), so no beta on those either. Note that I did not opt for the Sasquatch package, and I have a 2-door, and I did not upgrade the tires yet (still on 32s) so that may account for the mileage. I haven't made any mods at all other than removing the Outer Banks badge and replacing it with the Bronco script. (Too busy.)Scott P wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 9:05 am So how did it work out for everyone who bought/ordered one? Bloomberg interviewed me about the long delays last year ("Dude, Where's My Bronco?"), and many people are STILL waiting. It seems like Ford's making an effort to clear the backlog, though - my dealership has been getting only a handful of allocations since 2021, but last month they got more than 100, and they expect to clear another 375 this month. It's about time.
I've been keeping up on the reported problems but mine hasn't had any of them at all (knock on steel). People with problems are going to complain - those without pretty much don't talk about it

Here's a few pics: Rolling out of the factory (Ford sends you a pic if you have it built to order) and on Rampart Range Road and Winding Stairs Road to Scorpio Dome. I was bummed that Ford dropped Antimatter Blue, my first color choice, for 2022 but happy with Velocity Blue. No matter how dirty it gets, it always looks clean. Looking forward to getting the top off a lot more this year.

Re: New Ford Bronco
My father-in-law impulse bought a 2-door base with Sasquatch (35's) someone decided they didn't want. That entitled him to a Bronco Off-Roadeo guided trail day in Moab, and I went along as a +1. We ran the Seven Mile Rim Trail, which has one fairly exciting obstacle called Wipeout Hill.
The Goat modes are pointless and I hate digital instruments. But the biggest problem I see, apart from the ridiculous price tag, is the guts of the Bronco don't seem to be protected well by the frame, and even on 35's it (the 4-door at least) has mediocre breakover. The trail guide wasn't picking good lines on the ledges and they were bashing the rear link mounts, which though bomber are a problem as they're well forward of the rear axle and like 4" drop. They were also raking the gas tank (I think?) plates quite a bit, and the tour rigs had damage to exhaust components in front of the crossmember. I found this surprising, so when we got home I took some measurements vs. my 3" lifted FJ on 33's and except for departure my angles are better and I have more clearance all around (apart from rear diff), significantly more in places. The Bronco on 35's really should be lifted 2" from the factory--if you're dropping 50 grand for a purpose-built truck you shouldn't have to lift it.
That said, it's an amazing 4x4. Front lockers are a game changer, and even the base model has front and rear lockers, which dis/engage instantaneously. Sway bar disconnect is clutch. Turn assist (drags a wheel to tighten up turns) is mostly frivolous, but the 2-door can do bonkers ATV circles. The gearing in 4L is low, the wide stance (though I'm not a fan) makes it feel really stable, and it rides smooth off and on the trails, even with however much (too much) pressure the tour rigs ran.
I do think the cost of ownership will be high, and owning a vehicle like this beyond the warranty would make me pretty nervous.
