It's called Peak One because it offers you one of the best views of the Needle Range. I highly recommend adding this to your 'To Do' list. Incredible views of the Grenadiers and the other peaks in the Wemincuhe Wilderness. Used Mtnman200's TR as a guideline for hiking by El Dorado Lake for the return back to Beartown TH, thus avoiding the need to reclimb White Dome.

The road is not that bad currently. There are some bigger rut's to deal with this year (I was at Beartown TH last year at this time for another trip). The Rio Grande crossing is minimal right now. The last mile out of the trees up to the Beartown TH is the worst part. I am going to add a comment on the thread about Beartown, since I came in from Creede and exited via Stony Pass.
