Pretty quiet day on the mountain. Started from the I-70 exit at 5:50. Made it to the upper TH at 6:57, and the shoulder of Kelso at 8:15. Didn't make it to the summit until 11:25. The snow was super fresh, and was breaking "trail" the entire way. The snow is super hit or miss. Some section are really good and are super navigable, then there's other sections that have a thin frozen crust layer hiding a terrible and large faceted snow layer. Please be weary of the type of snow you're climbing in. I broke off a slab of what I would assume was either a storm/wind slab given the size of it relative to the recent snow. From the summit I continued breaking trail the entire way back down the trial to where I split off for Kelso Ridge. Big thanks to the skiers that started before me for letting me snipe their skin tracks for a good 1.5 miles before it was my turn to break trail.
