Montezuma Peak
Condition Updates
Route: West and East Ridges

Info: From "The Unicorn" I took the CDT to Montezuma's west ridge, which is steep, loose talus (Class 2). The east ridge is Class 2+ in spots and narrows quite dramatically, pretty fun. The entire peak is dry as a bone. Once off the peak I descended to Treasure Creek via grassy slopes, crossed to the south side, and made my way down through the forest. Plenty of deadfall in the forest. Be careful if getting close to the creek in the steeper parts, there's large cliffs and waterfalls hidden in there that could impede progress or be dangerous. No snow gear needed.

Info: Ascended southwest ridge/face, no snow. Descended east ridge, no snow. Took snow free route back down to basin where I had crossed the creek earlier in the morning. Several nice waterfalls along Treasure Creek. If you find a pair of sunglasses, keep them.
