Status Update
Road was fine in a Tacoma with Duratracs. Did scrape the hitch coming out of the first river crossing and perhaps one other time right near the top, but nothing a 4x4 can't manage (Tacoma, 4Runner, Jeep, etc). Saw some other SUVs and a Subaru or two at the top, but not sure I'd do that if you care about the underside of your vehicle...

If I am in a Subaru Outback (2009), how far up do you think I could get, or am I better off parking at the 2wd TH??

1st river crossing

did this friday night(up)-saturday(down). First river crossing in anything other than tacoma/4runner/jeep, will require some sort of spotting. theres a large rock on the exit and taking the wrong angle could cause some trouble.

The crux of the road?

Same question as Schumi. I will be in a 3-car party of a Jeep and two subies (experienced 14er-type road drivers) and am wondering what the most difficult part of this road is. If it's the crossings, based on the photos I've taken my forrester through worse (Elbert east TH). I've made it up easily on three 3/6 rated 14er TH roads (SW Massive - Half Moon Creek, East Elbert TH, and S. Winfield - Huron Peak), but I'm wondering if we'll be able to do this road. I'm more concerned about the scraping that the crossings.
Thanks!
