Status Update
Did this in my stock Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. First creek crossing is definitely the hardest part, there's a slight "step" that you just sort of have to power through heading up. Round rock right at the foot of the otherside of the creek crossing, not sure if it hurt or helped. I used 'Hill Decent Mode' on the way down and bumped by cars backend on the round rock, but nothing problematic. Once past that section, you're set.

Forester

I think you have the same clearance as a Forester? Are there any pull offs on the road after the first creek or is it more of a park at the bottom or the top deal? Been mulling this over for the past week, hate the idea of walking that road but I'll be alone and not sure if I want to risk it. Thanks!

Parking Near the Creek

You can park right before the creek crossing, there are two parking spots right before the creek and then a few camping spots about 200 feet further down the road. The Renegade only has about .1 inches more clearance, I think clearance-wise you probably will be okay with the Forester for the creek crossing, but I did have to use the different "modes" on my car to lock the differentials to power up/over the other side. I wouldn't do it in a Forester. I think it's probably capable, but it could be not so great for the vehicle. However, we were surprised by some vehicles we saw at the trailhead.

The rocks on the road a mid-sized, some that could definitely tear open your underbelly if you don't pick the line correctly. If you can make it to the first creek crossing, you can park and cut your trip in half. I wouldn't do this alone/without an emergency beacon or enough people on the trail to request a rescue.

Thanks so much, that is super helpful! Definitely not interested in bothering local resources over some extra work I am capable of. Maybe Iâll sneak up to before the creek crossing. Appreciate the info.

Traffic on Nellie

Lots of ATV traffic in the area right now. Chances are, if you need to park early, someone might give you a lift, might be questionable due to COVID19, tho. Bring a mask?
