Info: Just posting this as an FYI since I had no idea: this TH does not require a fee or reservation. Doable with an AWD until the last 50-100 yards. If you are doing pacific east though, just park in the middle and save yourself mileage on the end.

Info: From the 2WD drive split, there are some nice parking/camping pull outs down by the creek crossing. Once you climb away from the creek and hit the left turn to go up to the TH, the road narrows. If I had to guess, the road from the Y split is probably a 3/6 rating.

Info: 2WD road to fork. The right hand fork that takes you down towards North McCullough Gulch TH is pretty rough in places. I parked just after the creek a few hundred yards before the Wheeler Trail (where the road makes a sharp left turn and becomes rougher and narrower). Outback managed ok.

Info: Gate was closed when I arrived, open when I hiked out. 2WD dirt road open and clear to trailhead. After parking area theres minor water runoff and avy debris on road, but nothing that will impact your hike.

Info: Subaru Legacy easily made it to fork for standard McCullough Gulch and North McCullough Gulch. Normal washboarding, as expected on a dirt road. Past the fork headed to North TH, a few boulders and potholes made it more difficult...with very slow, careful maneuvering made it a bit farther. Could only make it as far as the creek (right past a large pullout area). Toyota Highlander made it all the way to the 11,050’ TH, though. Potholes, large boulders sticking up, and dips in the road.

Info: Overall rough road, gets much worse after low point and Wheeler Trail junction. To get all the way to parking area, high clearance and careful driving in low gear or 4wd suggested.
