Fourmile (Buffalo Pks) Trailhead

Range: Mosquito Range
Coordinates: 38.9490, -106.1433

Road Difficulty

2WD, rough dirt road 2   (0=Paved, 6=Very Difficult 4WD)
Chaffee County Road 375 is badly potholed but the potholes are not deep. Slow driving will alleviate pothole issues. A short section of exposed rocks near the trailhead is the only real difficulty and doesn't require 4WD, just moderate clearance. Expect these rocks to pose difficulty for low clearance sedans and the like. The road is permanently gated one mile below the end of the road marked on maps. No bathrooms or other facilities at the trailhead, but there is a bathroom at the Fourmile campground as well as at the bottom of CR 735 in the OHV parking area.

Driving Directions

From the junction of US Highway 24 and Main Street in Buena Vista, turn east onto East Main Street. After 0.2 miles turn north/left onto North Colorado Avenue/Chaffee County Road 371. Drive 2.5 miles and turn northeast/right onto CR 375. Drive 5.2 miles and turn east/right onto CR 375 at its junction with CR 377. Drive another 1.4 miles to the signed trailhead.

Winter Access

Gated 2.2 miles below the trailhead prior to the CR 375/CR 377 junction. Closure dates are from December 1st through April 30th.
