Awesome trip, thanks for the trip report and pictures!!! My wife, two friends, and I climbed Kili in Oct 2012. We used the Machame route. Before going I ruptured two discs (unrelated to hiking), and despite the Lortab, had to turn around 2,000 feet from the summit because of the pain. My wife and the other two ladies all summited without any issues. I had back surgery when I got back and have been recovering/rehabbing this year. Want to go back in 2014 and finish getting to the top - I just NEED to finish it. We might take the route you took, it looks beautiful...they connect at Lava Tower. Anyway thanks again for sharing!
Great report - well written and nice pics. But more importantly, Looks like you guys had a great trip. Wife and I have toyed with the idea of Kili for some time, so this is again inspiring. Congrats!!!
If you're willing to share, I'd be interested in what kind of prep you did for conditioning. Anything beyond hiking as much and as high as possible in the months leading up to it? Thanks.
