Well, what's a a summer without a trip report from the Upper Slate Lake Basin peaks in the Gores? Anyway, a bunch of us got together for some excellent scrambles deep in our favorite range. If you decide to check it out, I hope you enjoy!
This report is awesome! Truly, great work Brandon - an excellent recap of an incredible outing. Deep Gores, scrambles, gorgeous lakes, a knife edge....it's really hard to find a better spot than this out there (apart from the skeeters, of course). Also, what a crew! I remember thinking about our big group on one of the summit and wondering just how many summits, peaks, and climbs there were represented in total. It is a lot. A lot, a lot. Anyways man, thanks for the great write up and pics. Looking forward to the next outing!
Those skeeters were fierce! I think Blyth's comment was the best: ”these are like the Chuck Norris of mosquitos!”.
Fun time out in the hills gang - I can't wait for the next adventure!
These are great days we're livin bros... 08/15/2014 22:05
I don't think I've had a better weekend in the hills, Brando. Thanks for the pics, the writeup, the fires, and being a cool cat as well. It was great hanging with you and J, meeting Zambo, and getting out with the usual suspects again. I look forward to the next one (and yes, we should have a next one even if it takes a few moons).
The summit shot on Q is going on my wall when I get back in town. It really summarizes everything great about mountaineering.
I was just saying the other night that there‘s something about Peak L that just sticks with you... I seem to remember every minute of it with great detail. It‘s just a sweet peak! But then I realized, the reason it sticks in my mind is the great group of people I got to share it with, in the context of a weekend that was so much fun, and of course in an unreal setting.
Great TR, Brandon. Thanks for writing it up, and thanks again for that video (which I‘ve viewed at least 10x by now!). It was awesome getting to meet you (and J) finally!
Love it Brandon! 5 hrs in, I wonder what it's gonna take with skis
