Weekend in the Elks - Sleeping Sexton and Co.

Weekend in the Elks - Sleeping Sexton and Co.

When you go on a trip with Brian, he comes prepared. "Brian, why are we leaving so early?" He doesn't answer because he already knows that as soon as we get in the car some dude is going to rob a bank and CDOT will close I-70.

And with that the weekend begins. Keep reading...

Keep'm comin' guys!!

Sarnelli, you still alive?

Maybe Miller should change his screen name to lordhelmutless. Would make an even better puppet account (not that I condone that stuff). Solid outing with a solid beer stash I see. Congrats, lads.

Apropos your last image, maybe we need to rendezvous on November 4? I will never forget November 27, 1993. I was in attendance and half-gone. It still is my low point as a sports fan.

Nice report

The "secret ledge" is something else, isn't it?

Nice Summits

Great Trip Report Sarnelli. Thanks so much for posting the quality 13er route beta. Excellent work with getting these spectacular Elk Range peaks too. Information on lesser traveled routes is very good. Look forward to reaching them. Keep climbing safe, smart, and strong

That first photo is pretty insane and this is yet another great trip report. Thanks for the write up! It's always a treat to read your reports.

Really Nice!

What jmanner said - that first photo is VERY insane. By my calcs, you did about 25 miles and 10K vert. An easy couple days for you. And had I attempted that, I would have been hauled out on a stretcher.

A very, very fine report, my friend!

Doug - I'm just glad someone reads them! Hope you're healing up while doing a little 2018 trip planning.

Kevin - I'm gonna throw that alive question right back at ya! Alive and well man! Miller is too stubborn to change his screen name. Can't wait for college football, but at the same time that means the year is going way too fast man. November 4th is the end of a 3 game stretch - Michigan, Ohio State in Columbus, MSU in E. Lansing. Brutal. Keep me posted. Hope you and Sarah are both still romping around out there.

Sayre - Thanks! You too. Keep up the good work in the Park and enjoy the rest of the summer. It's a great place.

Manner - #######Thanks man! Not being a fan of that loose crape either, I'll tell you that ledge, although narrow, is probably the safest part of that mountain. Hope the summer has been good so far and hopefully see you one of these days soon!

Jay - haha! Thanks. You do that in your sleep and just don't tell us. It's 2017. I'm due for a Jay521 spotting before the end of the year!

Thanks again all. I need to get back to writing some reports. Enjoy the rest of August!

Good pics

Rough terrain there, nice job.
Your last photo could be on a magazine cover.

Beautiful ...

So much to like about this trip report ... 4-wheelin' off I-70 (d*mn those scooter-riding-bank-robbers-trying-to-use-I70-as-an-escape-route) ... awesome photos (yeah, well if you can't get a great photo in the Maroon Bells wilderness - just sayin' ) ... stellar beer selection (yes, that is a "priority" ) ... where's the pringles, LH? ... camping above treeline (always my preference) ... 8 million people down there and 2 up here (that's the perfect ratio) ... no helmet for helmut ("we don't need no stinkin' helmet" ) ... sphincter-clinching exposure (even if just briefly, that'll add spice to any climb ). Thanks for posting. Happy trails!

late to the game
