 Belford&Oxford 6/26/05

Hiked Belford and Oxford on Sun. June 26th. Camped about 1/4 mile down the road past the Missouri Gultch trailhead at a great spot the night before. I was a little worried because it rained a lot during the night. Started hiking around 4:30. It snowed a little bit on the way up Belford. Summitted around 8:30 and hung out for 20 minutes or so (had the summit to ourselves). Three guys had beaten us to the summit that morning - two decided not to bag Oxford as planned because of the wind and uncertain weather. The third guy went on to Oxford. Since Oxford was my main goal having already climbed Belford another time, we went on. The weather held and the sun came out and we enjoyed the hike to Oxford. Again, we had the summit to ourselves. Reached Belford again at noon and were back to the car by 3. Nice but tiring hike. Saw total of about 20 people on the trail but I think the weather seemed to deter many from these popular mountains yesterday.
