Mt. Elbert - East Ridge route

Climbed Mt. Elbert on 7/18/2021 via new East ridge route. Parts of previous route above timberline have been closed for restoration; closures are clearly marked. New route is obvious with new switchbacks and erosion control steps, easy to follow all the way to the top. Roundtrip distance from the upper 4-WD parking lot was 11.67 miles measured by GPS tracking.
